Despite the scoreline, this was a typical end of season encounter. Nevertheless, there was much to admire about the 90 minutes of skill and effort put in by Andy McLaren, who set up Morton's first two goals.

The highlight of a scrappy opening 30 minutes was a left-footed strike by Ton's Scott McLaughlin which beat Gavin McCann in the Berwick goal, but rebounded clear from a post. Peter Weatherson put Paul Walker clear but the winger shot well wide. Andy McLaren ended the tedium with a break on the right from where he swept over an inviting cross for Chris Templeman to out jump his marker from the far post and head past Gavin McCann.

Berwick looked lively after the break but went two behind when Andy McLaren's corner was headed home by Shaun Dillon. The visitors fought back, when Gordon Connelly's free-kick was knocked back across the goal mouth by Robbie Horn for Kevin Gordon to head in.

Substitute John Maisano restored the advantage when he burst clear on the left and, ignoring two supporting team mates, clipped the ball beyond McClann and a swift exchange between Gordon Connelly and Graham Connelly resulted in the latters shot being saved by David McGurn only for Gareth Hutchison to net the loose ball.

Maisano added a fourth in stoppage time when he ran from the halfway line and rolled the ball past McCann.
