Shielfield Park beckons for the Morton faithful, with Berwick Rangers playing host to Greenock Morton on the first day of the league season on August 7th. To continue the theme of competing against far-flung teams, Morton will then face Division Two returnees Stranraer at home on the following Saturday.
The traditional New Year "derby" fixture takes place at Cappielow as Dumbarton come to visit - at least, if the weather allows them to do so. Two days later, Morton are scheduled to head down the A77 to Somerset Park to face newly relegated Ayr United. Then, as summer approaches, the season ends much as it began, with a home fixture against Berwick Rangers on the 7th of May.
Division Two is commonly recognised as the most volatile of the Scottish divisions, with fully 40% of its membership changing each year due to promotion and relegation. It has been a few years now since Morton played against the likes of Ayr, Brechin and Stranraer, and some exciting ties should ensue throughout the course of the season.
