In an interview with Jim McInally yesterday, the Evening Times revealed the new Morton boss's first impressions following the 2-0 victory over Berwick Rangers on Saturday,
"There are a lot of good players here, but we will do whatever we need to do to try and win promotion.
"We will be seven days on by next weekend, but if continuing to play like we did on Saturday, we can certainly win many more games.
"The players worked really hard, but needed the second goal to relax them. They are a young side, and started to put pressure on themselves before that point, but I am delighted."
Clearly, McInally seems somewhat enthusiastic over what was a not entirely convincing win over the worst team in the Division. However, fans can be encouraged by the fact that he's identified one of this team's biggest weaknesses: its inability to kill off games. The second goal did indeed relax Morton, and it was long overdue; if he can instill in his players a sense of predatory instinct, to push forward effectively at the points in the game when the opposition is on the back foot, he will find his task of attaining promotion that much easier.
