Today's Evening Times contained a snippet of rumour-mongering that may be of interest to long-suffering Morton and Raith fans. Apparently, the Fifers are looking to bring in off-form striker Alex Williams on loan. With considerable time still to run on Williams' contract, and the striker being nowhere near the first team squad in the last two games, offloading him from the wage bill, even temporarily, would be good news for the 'Ton's accountants. What's more, it could be that a fresh challenge at the San Starko is what Alex needs to restart his career, which currently lies in tatters following an extensive goal drought and numerous disciplinary problems at Cappielow.
Strikers such as Chris Templeman, Jason Walker and Warren Hawke all remain firmly in front of Alex in the pecking order, with Peter Weatherson likely to resume first-team forward duties once his temporary spell as defensive cover is over.

Raith Rovers are Scotland's lowest scoring club, with twelve goals so far, one fewer than Third Division strugglers East Stirlingshire.
