Morton Face Defensive Crisis

With Stuart McCluskey out of commission following his red card against Brechin last week, Morton have been rocked by the news that his central defensive partner, Stewart Greacen, may be joining him on the sidelines.

Big Stew picked up an ankle injury in Saturday's 2-1 defeat, and faces a late fitness test before tomorrow's clash against Alloa Athletic at Cappielow. The BBC reports that his condition is currently touch and go - leaving 'Ton boss Jim McInally with a major headache.

David McGregor seems unready to make a return to the first team, whilst Marc McCulloch is unlikely to take part in tomorrow's proceedings. So, should Greacen be unable to play, a defensive reshuffle may be required. Derek Collins may move into the middle alongside Morton youth Alan Gilbride, with Scott Bannerman playing at right back, Dean Keenan shifting back over to his uncomfortable left side. Any number of combinations are possible - the key point is that some players will inevitably be played out of position, and youngsters may have to be drafted in despite their inexperience at this level.

With this in mind, Morton will be unlikely to repeat their last result against Alloa Athletic - a 6-1 victory - and will do well to keep the score down tomorrow.
