In a follow-up to the recent story on John Maisano (see link at end of article), another player has been told by 'Ton boss Jim McInally that his contract won't be renewed. This time, John's brother Marco is the victim of the reshaping of the Cappielow squad.
The defensive midfielder had a clear and vocal love for the club, but was undoubtedly the less naturally gifted of the two Maisano brothers, which frustrated many fans. Marco put a great deal of effort into his performances, with fitness levels higher than that of John, earning him the admiration of some, but hard graft alone doesn't win football matches. Hence, with Marco's contract nearly over, he has been told there are no plans to include him at Cappielow.
Marco's last game for the club was in a 2-2 draw with Berwick Rangers, in which he scored a goal. Big games in which he's taken part include the 1-0 Championship game win against Peterhead in 2003, the 6-1 trouncing of Airdrie United at New Broomfield, and the ignominious 6-1 defeat at Hamilton last year.
Marco, like all Australians, has appeared in several episodes of "Sons & Daughters".
