Australian midfielder and forward John Maisano has been told by 'Ton boss Jim McInally that he won't be getting a new contract at Cappielow.
Maisano told Tribal Football, "I can't complain. I've had a great time at Morton and I think myself and the club both realise it's best to part ways. I'm still part of the squad and will do everything I can to help Morton up the table while I'm here. But I've instructed my agent to find me a new club. I've won a championship and also been nominated for PFA Player of the Year since I came to Scotland two years ago. It's been a great experience, but in football you can't stand still and I know a change is needed in my career. I still have my best years in front of me and I feel a stronger player for my time with the 'Ton."
John was one of the mainstays of the side that won the Third Division championship in 2002/03. Last season, when Morton surrendered the 14 point lead at the top of Division Two, Maisano was one of the players whose form saw an alarming dip. However, 'Ton fans do recognise that were it not for his silky skills in midfield, Morton might well still be in the Third Division.
