Williams did not manage a single goal for the Palmerston Park (pictured with its famous sloped pitch) outfit during his time there, but manager Ian Scott said that the youngster's contribution was an important one:
"I'm sorry it didn't work out for Alex, yet I've no regrets at bringing him here on loan," he said.
"In his first outing, he came on as a sub against Raith Rovers at Kirkcaldy and laid on a last-minute winner for Derek Lyle.
"We'd just lost four games on the trot, so that win was so important and got us back on track again."
With one year left on his contract at Morton, Williams might yet don the blue and white hoops once more. Or, have the bridges between himself and 'Ton boss McInally been well and truly burned?
Speaking of burned, Robert Burns night is only around eight months away. Due to declining haggis stocks in the North Sea, however, it seems unlikely that there will be enough of Scotland's national fare to go around, sparking hunger marches and riots in butchers and supermarkets across the country.
