Stranraer and Morton Show Racism The Red Card

Today at Stair Park, players from both Morton and Stranraer will "show racism the red card" in a nationwide attempt to help stop racism in our society. The players, in common with their counterparts at each of the fifteen SFL games today, will bring awareness to the campaign on the pitch, while programme articles and posters offer more exposure of the idea of anti-racism to the fans.

In a game where clubs who espouse notions of anti-bigotry can employ bigots, and racism, xenophobia and sectarianism is all too common, any well-meaning measure to try to stamp out these vices is certainly to be applauded. It remains to be seen if anyone with racist tendencies will be converted by the campaign, but if it proves educational to even a minority, the organisers - and the players who cooperate - will have done their job.
